There's something quietly striking about issue five of this eight-part Marvel series: the Sentry reclines in a therapy session, telling his therapist "I feel like I never get any 'me' time…" — while a city burns in fiery orange chaos just outside the window behind them. John Romita Jr.'s cover captures an absurd, unsettling contrast between that calm office conversation and the apocalyptic backdrop, hinting at the enormous psychological weight this character carries. Paul Jenkins and Romita Jr. deliver a 2006 series that clearly isn't afraid to explore its hero from the inside out.
