“The Brand of Madness”

In "The Brand of Madness," explorer Oswald Perry’s ill-fated encounter with a voodoo charm from Chief Nogobi’s tribe takes a dangerous turn when he tries to discard it in a river—only for it to be reeled in by Tommy, Toughy, and Tubby while fishing. When the boys discover Perry’s name carved into the charm, they track him down, just as the furious Nogobi and his tribesmen close in. With Perry’s house echoing with cries for help, the trio springs into action, transforming into their crime-fighting identities to face the escalating threat. Frank Harry handles both pencils and inks for the story, while Harry Peter provides the cover.

Explorer Oswald Perry had taken a voodoo charm from an Nogobi chief, and since then has had nothing but trouble. He determines to get rid of it once and for all, so he throws it into a river. Tommy, Toughy and Tubby are fishing downstream, and Tommy hooks it. Perry's name is carved upon it, so they look up his address. Meanwhile, Chief Nogobi and several of his tribesmen have caught up with Perry and demand the return of the charm, or else. Arriving at the Perry house, the kids hear cries for help, so they change into their crime fighting costumes.
