Secret Warriors #19

Part of Marvel's 2010 Heroic Age banner, Secret Warriors #19 carries the ominous story title "The Last Ride of the Howling Commandos" — which says plenty on its own. Jim Cheung's pencils and Mark Morales's inks deliver a kinetic cover: two battle-hardened warriors surge forward through fire and chaos, one wielding a heavy weapon and sporting S.H.I.E.L.D.-insignia gear, while armed combatants clash in the smoky background behind them. Jonathan Hickman and Alessandro Vitti's run here has a gritty, espionage-thriller energy, and this issue looks like it pushes that intensity to the limit.
