Secret Six #7

This 2015 installment of Gail Simone's Secret Six delivers one of the more unsettling images in the series: a gnarled, moonlit tree whose branches cradle an owl, a cat, a pale-faced figure in a net top, a creepy porcelain doll, a zombie-like boy, and what appears to be a cloaked figure, while two massive, tentacled golden creatures flank the roots below. Dale Eaglesham's cover art captures that signature blend of dark fantasy and creeping dread that makes this team book so distinctive. If you enjoy your superhero comics tinged with genuine menace and a fairy-tale-gone-wrong atmosphere, issue #7 belongs in your pull list.
