Secret Origins #2

Part of DC's New 52 anthology revival, Secret Origins #2 (July 2014) promises origin stories for Batman, Aquaman, and Starfire across its pages. Lee Bermejo's cover sets a brooding tone: a cape-swept Batman looms over a kneeling young man in a suit — evoking Bruce Wayne's past — while a swarm of red and black bats swirls around them against a pale, full moon. It's a genuinely arresting image that captures the duality at the heart of the Dark Knight, and at $4.99 this issue packs three hero spotlights into one satisfying package.
