Secret Avengers #13
Part two of "How to MA.I.M. a Mockingbird" puts a menacing, cybernetically-enhanced M.O.D.O.K. front and center, his massive head bristling with golden mechanical limbs as he looms over a group of agents — including what appear to be Mockingbird and other Secret Avengers — scrambling in the background against a shattered green expanse. Butch Guice's cover art delivers a genuinely unsettling sense of scale, with M.O.D.O.K.'s snarling face and red gem dominating the composition in a way that makes the heroes look appropriately outmatched. Writers Nick Spencer and Aleš Kot are steering this five-part arc, and with a villain this imposing on the cover, issue #13 promises the kind of high-stakes S.H.I.E.L.D. espionage tension the series does so well.
