“Wail of a Tale!”

The whole Mystery Inc. gang is in full flight on this lively 2003 cover — Fred and Scooby lead the scramble across what looks like a parade float while Daphne, Shaggy, and Velma react in wide-eyed alarm behind them, all pursued by a fearsome green-and-purple creature with snapping jaws and wild, flowing tendrils. The cover tagline "Spooky Siren Song!" and a "Beauty Pageant" sign hint at a wonderfully silly supernatural setup, brought to vivid life by the pencils of Joe Staton and inks by Dave Hunt. Inside, writer Frank Strom and artist Anthony Williams carry the fun forward in "Wail of a Tale!" — a great pick for fans of classic cartoon mystery hijinks.
