“The Old Ways”

Scooby-Doo finds himself in decidedly ancient company in this 1997 DC/Cartoon Network issue, with the cover by Joe Staton dropping our favorite Great Dane into a firelit forest scene surrounded by robed, staff-wielding druids — the tagline "Scooby-Dooby-Druid!" says it all. A mysterious antlered figure looms in the flames behind Scooby while cloaked figures press in from all sides, setting a wonderfully spooky mood that pairs perfectly with the interior story, "The Old Ways." It's a fun, atmospheric issue that shows the gang's mystery-solving adventures translate beautifully to the comics page.
