Scooby-Doo #147

The Rainbow Serpent dominates this October 2009 issue of Scooby-Doo!, its enormous reptilian eye filling the cover as Daphne, Shaggy, and Scooby-Doo are reflected within its terrifying gaze — rendered in eerie blue tones that make the gang look decidedly uneasy. Shaggy's trademark exclamation ("Zoinks! Like, talk about givin' the evil eye!") says it all, and the cover tagline — "Can ANYONE resist the Rainbow Serpent?" — sets up a delightfully spooky challenge. Cover art by Vince DePorter makes clever use of the serpent's pupil as a story window, drawing you right into "Great Barrier Creep" with one of the more visually inventive covers in the series' run.
