The series was announced at New York Comic Con 2023 by writer Steve Orlando and editor Alanna Smith as a direct extension — and temporary rebrand — of Orlando's Scarlet Witch ongoing, which had concluded its first volume after ten issues. Rather than a true fresh start, Marvel structured this as a four-issue limited series using the same creative team: Orlando on script, Lorenzo Tammetta on interior art, Frank William on colors, Joe Caramagna on letters, and Russell Dauterman providing covers, exactly as they had on the preceding Scarlet Witch run. The series was presented in collected editions as Scarlet Witch Vol. 3, making clear its continuity with what came before, even as its title and numbering reset — an editorial choice that drew some criticism from readers for fragmenting what was functionally one continuous story.
