Savage Dragon: God War #1

This 2004 Image miniseries kicks off the "God War" storyline with a cover by Mark Englert that puts the fin-headed Savage Dragon front and center, one massive fist raised and the other clutching what appears to be a large weapon, radiating raw power against a golden, ornate circular backdrop. Flanking him are several striking figures — a colorful warrior with wild red hair, a blue-skinned woman in gold armor, and a masked antagonist with glowing red eyes — hinting at a conflict of genuinely epic proportions. With Robert Kirkman scripting and Englert handling both pencils and inks, this opening chapter looks every bit as ambitious as its title suggests.
