The fourteenth volume of Samoerai arrives with a striking cover by Cristina Mormile that sets an immediate tone of high-stakes confrontation: a battle-worn samurai crouches low in a fighting stance, katana drawn, while an agile opponent leaps dramatically through the air above him against a backdrop of traditional East Asian architecture. Mormile's linework and composition beautifully capture the tension between grounded power and airborne agility, with loose petals and warm colors adding a painterly elegance to the violence. Subtitled De Schouder van de Meester ("The Shoulder of the Master"), this 2021 Daedalus release is a visually confident entry in the long-running Dutch-language series.
