Sad Sack Comics #90

Harvey Comics' beloved everyman soldier returns in this February 1959 installment, with George Baker's cover capturing the Sad Sack in typically hapless form — bound tightly in red ribbon while a bristling black cat perches atop his head and a frantic dog goes flying nearby, stars bursting all around in chaotic holiday fashion. The "Special Xmas Toy Section" banner promises seasonal fun inside, and the tagline "Loved by Millions" is easy to believe when Baker renders this poor put-upon private with such warm, rubbery charm. A delightful snapshot of Harvey Comics humor at its most cheerfully disastrous.
