Sad Sack Comics #8

George Baker's hapless everyman is having the worst hot-dog-vending day imaginable — the cover shows Sad Sack recoiling in alarm as a chaotic pack of scraggly, drooling dogs swarms his steaming "Hot Dogs 10¢" basket, while a walrus-like creature lurks ominously at the edge of the mayhem. It's a perfectly timed visual gag that captures everything endearing about Baker's simple, expressive cartooning style. This eighth issue from Harvey Comics in 1950 promises a "fun packed" read, and with a story titled "Pets," the cover chaos seems like a very apt preview.
