Few comic covers nail helpless absurdity quite like this one — George Baker's Sad Sack stands engulfed in flames, squinting through a magnifying glass at a sign reading "What To Do In Case Of Fire!" while a fire extinguisher hangs tantalizingly just out of reach. It's the kind of perfectly timed visual joke that made Harvey Comics' "Loved by Millions" tagline feel entirely earned in 1957. A ten-cent slice of slow-burn comedy — emphasis on the burn.
