Harvey Comics' long-running army humor series delivers another dose of misfortune with issue #70, and the cover — by George Baker — says it all: the hapless Sad Sack has apparently lit a crate labeled "Explosives" and is now airborne in a spectacular cloud of smoke and debris, cigarette still somehow in hand. It's the kind of beautifully timed cartoon catastrophe that made this series a staple of 1957 newsstands, and the tagline "Loved by Millions" feels entirely earned when Baker's expressive, rubbery linework is this much fun to look at.
