Poor Sad Sack has gotten himself into another fine mess — George Baker's cover finds our hapless private wedged inside a cannon barrel, clutching a rag and a can of metal polish, sweat flying as soldiers outside shout "FIRE!" Harvey Comics' beloved everyman soldier, "loved by millions," has apparently taken his cleaning duties a step too far. It's a wonderfully absurd snapshot of military life gone sideways, perfectly capturing the gentle, good-natured humor that made this 1956 series such a delight.
