Sad Sack Comics #108

Poor Sad Sack just can't catch a break — on George Baker's cover for this 1960 Harvey issue, our hapless hero recoils in wide-eyed shock as arrows fly directly at his face, while his little dog Mutsy watches the chaos unfold beside an archery target already bristling with misfired shots. It's the kind of cheerfully absurd bad luck that made this series a favorite, and the story inside is even titled "Cheer Up" — which Sad Sack clearly needs. A fun, lighthearted slice of mid-century comics humor at its most endearing.
