In "Canine Capers," Spunky and his friends plan to collect free circus passes by obtaining one more poster, but their dog accidentally eats the circus pass they obtain, forcing them to abandon their scheme. In the second story, Rusty's father attempts to test an automatic short-wave radio device aboard a boat, but when he accidentally grabs the wrong device, it triggers a crisis at sea requiring rescue; meanwhile, a group of boys uncover a scheme in which transmitters are being distributed to banks to prevent robberies, leading them to assist the police in recovering the final transmitter and foiling a bank robbery plot.
When Rusty, Tubby, and Spunky discover a hidden cave perfect for their secret clubhouse, they’re soon startled by a group of intruders who claim it as their own — but the boys soon realize these "uninvited guests" aren’t who they seem. What starts as a playful clash of wits and antics quickly turns into a surprising showdown when the real culprits — fugitive crooks — are exposed, thanks to the boys’ quick thinking and a little help from the police.
Spunky, a young boy, befriends a stray dog named Yappy while trying to earn money for circus tickets. When he loses his free pass to the circus after Yappy chews it up, he teams up with a boy named Clancy, who claims to be a detective, to find a way in—leading to a playful showdown where the dog must choose between them.
Mark Legion is called in to impersonate a suspected foreign agent posing as an Air Force officer, slipping into the role just as the real pilot is arrested. With the XP-140 interceptor about to be flown, Mark must maintain his disguise while undercover, leading to a high-stakes chase that ends with the enemy agents captured and the plane secured.
Rusty Adams and his father set out on a relaxing sail, but a sudden storm knocks the elder Adams unconscious after he hits his head. With the boat taking on water and no help in sight, Rusty uses his makeshift shortwave signal to call the Coast Guard—only to be intercepted by a pair of suspicious sailors who hijack the boat and threaten him.
Clancy the Clown Detective takes on the case when the circus tent stakes go missing just before showtime, leading him on a whimsical investigation that takes him from the circus lot to a barber college, where he uncovers the stolen stakes hidden among newly minted barber poles. With a clever clue and a surprising twist, Clancy solves the mystery — but the real surprise is who he decides to reward.
In "The Case of the Electronic Money!", Rusty and his friends use a cleverly disguised radio transmitter hidden in a fake stack of bills to track a gang of bank robbers, leading them on a high-speed chase through the city and into a remote hideout in the woods. As the boys follow the fading signal through the subway and into the countryside, they must outsmart the robbers before the police arrive.
