With striking visuals by Cliff and Terese Nielsen and a moody, layered palette, the issue lingers on the weight of memory and loss, as Phil races against time and the invisible cost of his own research.

Phil continues to research his book on how the universe that should be full of marvels has instead fallen into ruins. He visits a mutant prison run by the Kingpin for President X, he watches stunt cyclist Johnny Blaze go down in flames and he interviews Ben Grimm who lost his closest friends in a space shuttle flight which he refused to pilot. As Phil worries about how much time he has left to write his book, the radiation he absorbed from news photographer Peter Parker kills him.
