Ruins #1
Marvel's Ruins #1 arrives in 1995 as a haunting "Marvel Alterniverse" two-part prestige series written by Warren Ellis, asking a quietly devastating question: what if everything went wrong? The cover by Cliff and Terese Nielsen sets the tone immediately — a weary man in a suit clutching a camera picks his way through a scene of catastrophe, flames and smoke roiling behind him while the fallen, costumed bodies of figures recognizable as Captain America and Spider-Man lie broken at his feet alongside other defeated heroes and monstrous forms. It's a gut-punch of an image, rendered in painterly, muted tones that feel more like war photojournalism than superhero fantasy — a genuinely compelling opening statement for "Men on Fire.
