Jeff Lemire's quietly haunting Royal City continues with issue #3, its cover depicting a weary young woman standing at a bus stop alongside a small boy clutching a stuffed pig — a "Tara Pike / Royal Real Estate" advertisement visible on the bench behind them. Rendered in Lemire's distinctive loose, watercolor-washed linework, the scene captures the everyday melancholy and small-town atmosphere that makes this series such a compelling read. A fine addition to one of 2017's most emotionally resonant ongoing titles from Image Comics.
