"The Trouble with Love" follows a narrator who, after her father's death, attempted to be a "good girl" and avoid the "crazy dancing" and wild music she enjoyed, but eventually fell in love and began to embrace life again. When her friend Patti becomes hospitalized and paralyzed after an accident, the narrator visits her at the lake cottage party being held in Patti's honor, where she reconnects with Andy and discovers that dancing and enjoying herself—including trying modern music with Andy—has actually helped her find happiness and move forward.
