But when his buddy Hal crashes their romantic evening to collect on a bet, Mary discovers the whole thing started as a wager, and she walks away convinced that Don's incapable of real love. Now, as the ship sails from port to port across the Mediterranean, Don finds himself unable to shake Mary from his thoughts, left to wonder if he's finally lost something he can't get back.

A young woman's embarrassing mix-up with a stranger over luggage and ties at a department store sets off a chain of chance encounters that keeps throwing them together—first over a puppy she desperately wants to care for, then through a series of conversations that reveal they might have more in common than either expected. As her former fiancé fades from her thoughts, she discovers that fate (and one adorable terrier named Scottie) may have other plans for her heart. Each custom, no matter how strange it may seem to Western eyes, reflects the universal hope shared by brides everywhere: that marriage will bring a lifetime of genuine love and partnership.
