Helen lives on a Texas ranch and is courted by cowboy Rod and rich guy Ken, but doesn't love either one. She falls for visiting Terry instead. However, she learns he's a trouble-shooting ornithologist for the Audubon Society. Helen thinks "it's disgraceful for a grown man to be involved with such nonsense!" She demands he quit his job and work on his father's ranch. Terry refuses. A year later, Helen is touring the Everglades and meets Terry again. They visit the swamp together and Terry captures some poachers. Helen says she's always loved Terry and won't oppose his career any longer.
