In "No Sweethearts for a Sailor," a woman named Phyllis Parker makes a desperate choice to enter into a relationship with a sailor to protect her heart from romantic heartbreak. When the sailor tries to coerce her into boarding a boat and abandoning her life, she refuses, and he becomes enraged, leading to a confrontation. In the story "Mankiller," a woman named Judy becomes a steady girlfriend to Larry but finds herself caught in a love triangle when another man, Alan, begins to fall for her as well; after a series of romantic entanglements and jealousies, she ultimately chooses to marry Larry. The issue closes with a tale in which a man makes a dramatic public declaration of his love, proposing marriage to the woman he adores despite the complications that have arisen from their romantic history.
