Rocky Lane, a secret marshal, devises a plan to capture a gang leader by feigning capture and pretending to be an outlaw. He arranges for a gang member to find him at a tavern and convinces the man he can be trusted to join their operation. Rocky's scheme involves getting brought to the gang's hideout, where he discovers unusual activity—odd jobs and luxurious furnishings that suggest criminal enterprise. During his investigation of the hideout, Rocky encounters hidden rooms and a talking parrot that aids in revealing the gang's secrets and location.
