In "Bookends Part 1," Rocket Raccoon and Groot are finally ready to settle their debt to the princesses they once swindled—until Rocket catches wind of a mysterious artifact, the Book of Halfworld, rumored to hold the key to his forgotten past. Written by Skottie Young and illustrated by Jake Parker, with colors by Jean-Francois Beaulieu and letters by Jeff Eckleberry, this issue sees Rocket torn between responsibility and the tantalizing chance to uncover his origins, all set against a vibrant, offbeat backdrop. The cover, by Skottie Young, captures the moment of that fateful decision.

Rocket and Groot have finally accumulated the cash they need to pay off his debt to the princesses he swindled and they are on their way to make the repayment when Rocket learns that, for the right price, he may be able to acquire the Book of Halfworld (which might tell him the secret of his own origin). Of course, he chooses to pursue the book and abandon his creditors.
