Robur lands in German-language comics with this handsome 2007 Edition 52 hardcover, "Vom Mond zur Erde," written by Randy Lofficier, Jean-Marc Lofficier, and Uwe Löhmann. Gil Formosa's cover — pencils and inks both his own — presents a rugged, armed adventurer standing confidently on a metallic platform beside a glamorous red-haired woman in black, while an armada of retro-futuristic airships and a ringed planet fill the cosmic sky behind them. It's a rich pulp-adventure atmosphere that makes this opening volume an appealing pick for fans of steampunk science fiction and Jules Verne-inspired storytelling.
