Gil Formosa, born in 1959, is a French cartoonist and illustrator whose career has bridged the worlds of comics, advertising, and animation. He entered the industry at age eighteen in 1977, contributing four short stories to *Pilote* magazine. In 1982, he launched the heroic fantasy series *Légendes du Chevalier Cargal* in the same magazine, a run that continued until 1989. After that, Formosa shifted into advertising and animation, notably creating the original character designs for the animated series *Totally Spies!*. He also took on commissions for publishers like Glénat (two *Tex Avery* albums), Marvel Comics (a *Conan* cover), and Semic Comics (covers and illustrations). His painted covers became a hallmark for French science fiction, comic books, and American game publishers, and he became one of France's leading commercial illustrators, with credits including the film poster for *Lady Hawke* and major advertising campaigns. Formosa later returned to comics, collaborating with writer Jean-Marc Lofficier on a Steampunk series featuring Jules Verne's character Robur, beginning in 2003, and with writer Corbeyran on the *Double Gauche* series at Dargaud in 2006. In our catalog, he is credited as artist, colorist, inker, and writer across twenty issues from 2002 to 2023, with notable work on *Buck Danny*, *Robur*, and *Kiwi*.
