Robin Annual #5

Part of DC's 1996 "Legends of the Dead Earth" annuals event, this oversized issue drops Robin into a vivid far-future scenario where the familiar symbol means something altogether different. The cover by Phil Jimenez is a stunner — a winged, female Robin soars center-stage in full red-and-green regalia, firing boot-jets through a war-torn cityscape while a heavily armored Batman swoops in above her, Joker-faced fighter jets strafe the skyline in flames, and a more traditional-looking Robin watches warily from the left edge. Writer Chuck Dixon, artist Staz Johnson, and inker Rob Leigh bring "The Iron Sky" to life inside, promising the kind of scope and scale that only an annual can deliver.
