Robin faces a villain far more dangerous than his cheerful gimmick suggests — the cover by Mike Wieringo and Terry Austin puts the Boy Wonder in the thick of a splintering, shard-flying brawl alongside a looming, purple-clad Toyman, with a giant smiling toy face lurking below and the teasing tagline "You just can't play nice with the Toyman…" January 1997 finds writer Chuck Dixon and artist Staz Johnson delivering what looks like a seriously rough playdate. It's a dynamic, kinetic composition that makes clear this particular villain has no interest in keeping his toys in one piece — or his opponents on their feet.
