Robin faces a gladiatorial challenge on this August 1995 cover, squaring off against a massively built warrior in ancient Roman armor — complete with plumed helmet and broadsword raised high — while a toga-clad figure watches imperiously from a balcony above, flanked by a Roman soldier and a crowd of silhouetted onlookers. The Boy Wonder holds his ground with staff in hand, cape billowing, looking every bit the determined fighter despite the overwhelming size of his opponent. With Chuck Dixon writing and Mike Wieringo penciling (cover art inked by Terry Austin), this installment of the solo Robin series blends Gotham grit with something unexpectedly ancient.
