Volume 5 of Satoshi Fujiwara's Rising Sun puts its intensity front and center, with a powerfully built young man hunched forward in a tense, braced stance — clenched fist, jaw set, looking very much like someone steeling himself for whatever comes next. Fujiwara's grounded, realistic linework gives the figure a raw, physical presence that suits this gritty French-published manga beautifully. At 7,90 EUR from Komikku Éditions, this 2015 release is a compelling addition to one of the more quietly gripping series on the shelf.
