Rick and Morty Spring Break Out #1
In "Spring Break Out," Morty and four of his high school classmates—Toby, Derek, Valarie, and Charlotte—are trapped in detention during spring break, forced to write an essay on their choices and their consequences. With Rick overseeing their punishment through his usual chaotic schemes, the group is unexpectedly whisked away to a wild party planet, where they’re given a chance to confront their past decisions in a way they never expected. Written by James Asmus and Jim Festante, with art by Dean Rankine and colors by Alessandro Santoro, this 2025 Oni Press issue delivers a rare, heartfelt twist in the series’ usual madness—complete with a cover by Dean Rankine.

Morty and four of his high school classmates (Toby, Derek, Valarie, and Charlotte) are stuck in detention during what would otherwise be spring break. Principal Vagina assigns the detainees an essay on "the choices you made -- and the consequences of your actions". Under his usual multiplicity of machinations Rick is put in charge of the students' detention and liberates them for a spring break on a party planet. There, they actually do reassess their choices and their consequences and become better persons for the experience. But when's the last time Rick really did a good deed for anyone?
