Richie suggests a picnic on the Rich estate, and his parents love the idea. However, as they set out, Richie is surprised to see a caravan of trucks following them to the picnic spot Mr. Rich has selected. Landscapers clear an area and lay down sod, exterminators spray for insects, the air is scented with perfume, a marching band and circus performers entertain them, and a bevy of butlers serve food that has been flown in by helicopter. Richie had wanted a simple picnic and sneaks away to build a fire and roast a hotdog. Soon his parents join him and enjoy "getting away from it all".
