This fifth chapter of Image's medieval-noir series Rex Mundi sets a brooding tone right from its cover, where a large, menacing figure in a dark coat looms in a rain-slicked alley while a smaller figure in a white suit — armed with a knife — pursues close behind. Eric J's moody linework, colored by Jeromy Cox in deep grays and shadow, captures the series' signature blend of detective tension and gothic atmosphere perfectly. Written by Arvid Nelson, "The Hidden Priory" promises another gripping installment of this 2003 series that wears its dark, conspiratorial heart proudly on its sleeve.
