Rex analyzes the debris left by the creatures who escaped the Book of Monsters and realizes a vast array of other literary characters have already escaped their books and are in the real world. This causes Rex to tell Hypatia the story of how he and Circe battled the OGPU in the USSR, 1933. Hypatia finally asks Rex what his story has to do with their present problem; he admits they're not connected.
