Refrigerator Full of Heads #3

Part of Joe Hill's Hill House Comics imprint under DC Black Label, Refrigerator Full of Heads #3 delivers the gloriously unsettling goods right on its cover: a large stag clenches a severed, very-much-still-talking human head in its jaws, the gory face barking out navigation instructions ("Turn right, you idiot!") with remarkable confidence for someone in that situation. Marcio Takara's cover art is darkly playful, balancing visceral horror with a jet-black comic sensibility that perfectly captures the series' tone. With Rio Youers writing and Tom Fowler and Craig Taillefer on interior art, colored by Bill Crabtree, this 2022 series continues to prove that the most horrifying things can also be genuinely, weirdly funny.
