Donny Cates and Lisandro Estherren's Southern Gothic vampire series continues with this viscerally unsettling eighth issue from Skybound/Image. The cover puts you right in the grip of something terrible — a grotesquely decayed, boil-riddled creature lunges forward with a clawed hand, its white-haired, partially decomposed face staring out with one pale blue eye against a sickly yellow background and dried grass. Dee Cunniffe's earthy, diseased palette makes every pustule and cracked patch of skin feel disturbingly real, setting a mood that's equal parts backwoods dread and monster-movie nightmare.
