Donny Cates's Southern Gothic vampire series continues with a cover that perfectly captures its uneasy tension between faith and darkness — a weathered church steeple looms against a blazing amber sky while a blood-mouthed creature perches at its base, and dark birds scatter overhead like an omen. Lisandro Estherren's art, colored by Dee Cunniffe in those rich burnt-orange hues, makes the image feel both sun-scorched and deeply foreboding. If the first issue hooked you on this world, issue #2 makes clear that whatever sanctuary this old church once offered may be long gone.
