Red Mask #45
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThe main story features Red Mask confronting a false Red Mask, as indicated by the cover's question "Which One Is Red Mask?" A secondary story involves Red Mask attempting to rescue Antelope Girl, a Native American woman, from being sacrificed by her tribe at Niagara Falls, though she ultimately chooses to jump rather than be saved. A third story depicts Old Clem Davis and a valuable grey stallion named Starfire, with the horse being sought after by outlaws, leading to a chase where Starfire outwits his pursuers. The issue also includes a mail-order advertisement for a "Complete Baffling Magic Outfit" featuring twenty magic tricks.
When a stagecoach carrying Pearl Nolan, Captain Lewis Springer, and drummer Deb Morris comes under attack by Blueface and his band of renegade Apaches, the passengers find themselves trapped in a canyon with dwindling ammunition and no way out. Red Mask must race against time to reach them before Blueface closes in for the kill, using ingenuity and the drummer's sample toys to turn the tide. It's a desperate frontier gambit where one masked hero stands between innocent travelers and a ruthless outlaw's scalp-hungry vengeance.
The Ghost Rider's reputation as a relentless lawman is put to the test when the cunning escape artist and master of illusion known as Magico breaks out of prison with one goal: frame the masked avenger for a stage robbery and lure him into a carefully laid trap. As the Ghost Rider races to clear his name and catch the villain, Magico deploys every trick in his arsenal—hypnosis, knife-throwing, and elaborate disguises—in a battle where the line between reality and deception becomes dangerously thin.
When an impostor claiming to be Red Mask turns the Comanche people against their former friend, Red Mask must uncover the truth before the false hero can exploit their sacred gold mines and destroy Antelope Girl. Racing through the Red Butte country and into the Ripsaw Range, Red Mask confronts his double in a desperate battle to prove which masked man is the real deal—and which is the dangerous deceiver. Running Bear and the Comanches arrive just as the truth threatens to remain buried, forcing a reckoning that will expose the imposter's greed for what it is.
Redmask devises a cunning trap to catch the elusive Red River Gang: he arranges for their prized target, Starfire—a wild stallion secretly raised by a murdered prospector near his hidden gold mine—to be sentenced to death, knowing the outlaws will attempt a daring rescue. As the gang strikes and flees with the horse into the canyon country, Redmask pursues them through the night, using his wits to outmaneuver their ambush and track them across treacherous terrain under the moonlight.
