The Red Mask pursues a criminal gang responsible for a stagecoach robbery across rough Western terrain to Beartooth Mountain. After capturing the outlaws, the Red Mask discovers a mysterious deed written in "black writing" that appears on the ashes of burned paper, leading him to investigate further. The masked vigilante searches the desolate mountain region for clues to understand why the criminals valued the cryptic document, ultimately determining that the location holds no apparent treasure or valuable minerals despite the criminals' desperation to possess it.
