Reborn #1
Mark Millar launches a new creator-owned series at Image, with Greg Capullo and Jonathan Glapion delivering a cover that immediately establishes an otherworldly sense of scale: a white-caped warrior woman, sword and pistol in hand, stands with her back to us facing a vast, mist-shrouded dark fortress crackling with lightning, while strange creatures lurk in the foreground shadows around her. FCO Plascencia's moody color palette — bruised purples, sickly greens, and that eerie glowing spire — gives the whole image an epic, foreboding atmosphere that feels like fantasy seen through a sci-fi lens. If this opening chapter's cover is any indication, Reborn is the kind of bold, world-building project that makes 2016 a genuinely exciting time for creator-owned comics.
