“Forgotten Vows”

In "Forgotten Vows," Joyce navigates grief and new beginnings after her father’s death, taking a job at Pop’s casino despite her aversion to gambling. As her feelings for Pop’s son Tim deepen, old promises and shifting loyalties test their bond—especially when Audrey arrives and stirs tension. The story unfolds with quiet intensity, drawing readers into a world where love, duty, and regret are as real as the cards on the table. Art by Ann Brewster brings the emotional weight of the moment to life, with every line charged with unspoken history.

After her father's death, Joyce gets a job in the casino run by Pop, even though she hates gambling because it ruined her father. Joyce falls in love with Pop's son Tim and when the older man is on his deathbed, he asks them to get married. Tim later reneges on his promise to sell the casino and buy a ranch, which makes Joyce angry. Audrey gets a job in the casino and tries to steal Tim's affections. However, when a distraught gambler nearly kills Joyce, Tim realises he loves her and agrees to sell the business.
