Lewis Trondheim launches this fantasy series from Dupuis with a cover that sets the tone beautifully: a small white-haired figure stands at the center, dwarfed by a massive grey troll-like creature holding a torch, while shadowy armored silhouettes loom on one side and a winged creature soars above a rickety stilted building. The first volume's title — Est-ce qu'on ment aux gens qu'on aime ? ("Do we lie to the people we love?") — hints at a story where charm and unease go hand in hand. A wonderful entry point into Trondheim's distinctive world of whimsical yet foreboding adventure, brought to warm, atmospheric life with coloring by Brigitte Findakly.
