Lewis Trondheim launches his fantasy series Ralph Azham with this 2011 Dupuis opener, subtitled "Lieg je tegen de mensen van wie je houdt?" — "Do you lie to the people you love?" The cover, drawn and inked by Trondheim himself, sets an immediately intriguing tone: a small white-haired figure in a red tunic stands before a hulking grey troll-like creature perched atop a rickety stilted house, while rabbit-eared beings lurk in the background and a winged creature circles overhead. It's a wonderfully offbeat fantasy world, rendered in Trondheim's distinctively fluid linework and colored by Brigitte Findakly in soft, atmospheric hues.
