Ragman: Cry of the Dead #4

Issue four of this six-part 1993 DC miniseries delivers one of the year's most striking covers, courtesy of Joe Kubert — a small, ragged figure dwarfed by an enormous, fang-filled demonic maw blazing with fiery oranges and reds. The sheer scale of that monstrous presence against the fragile silhouette of Ragman below captures the series' tone of supernatural dread with genuine unease. Writer Elaine Lee and artist Gabriel Morrissette continue "Blood Sacrifice," and if the cover is any indication, the stakes have never felt higher for DC's tattered hero.
