Cynical reporter Grace is demoted after her hard-hitting exposé of a politician causes the man to commit suicide. Grace interviews war hero Pete; he flirts with her and they argue. Grace asks to be sent to Korea and Pete is assigned as her escort. He shows her how devastated the country is and how the Koreans are suffering; he introduces her to the soldiers as well. When Pete is reported to be wounded, Grace realizes she loves him. It was a hoax to break through her hardboiled shell. Grace and Pete embrace.
