“Deliverance”

The final issue of R.E.B.E.L.S. '96 goes out with a bang — the cover, penciled by Derec Aucoin and inked by John Dell, depicts the team bound in chains and at the mercy of a massive, imposing purple-skinned villain, the tagline "Bound to Die!" leaving little doubt about the dire stakes. A striking ensemble of characters — including a white-haired woman in orange, a green-skinned young man, a child, and several others — are gathered in various states of captivity, radiating tension and defiance in equal measure. It's a fittingly dramatic sendoff for this 1996 DC series, with writer Tom Peyer and artist Derec Aucoin delivering what promises to be a charged conclusion in "Deliverance.
